the Powerball winning numbers
Wedges, the USGA & a good
solution - Cleveland Golf
CG-15 wedges
Cynics have said more than a little sarcastically, though some club company executives
sobbed and pulled their hair over the injustice of the USGA shrinking the allowable size of
grooves they in fact weren’t all that upset. It was pointed out there were going to be a lot of
new clubs purchased to replace the old nonconforming irons so deep down the club guys
were actually cheering the USGA.

TMX Stand Bag
Sometimes little things mean a lot and that’s the case with the TaylorMade TMX Stand
Bag. This is a very impressive carry bag with touches that make it outstanding compared
to its rivals.
Bushnell Hybrid range finder
Bushnell enjoys the reputation of being the gold standard of laser range finders. In fact, a
large majority of touring professionals and their caddies use Bushnell devices to
measure distances during practice rounds to ensure accurate club selection during
competition.
Swingpact Golf Swing Trainer
After having been around golf for a while and particularly having spent years writing about
the game and equipment it’s easy to become a bit jaded. Whether it’s the latest and
greatest, “You’ll hit the ball 30-yards farther!” driver or a training aid right out of Dr. Jeykll’s
lab you kind of feel, “been there, done that.”
Going to the Dawgs
Those in the category of golf traditionalists are apt to at least frown when some of the
modern styles appear on the course.
New Tour B330 ball from

Thumbs Up
Simple can be the best...There’s an old golf adage that says a good swing starts with a
good grip. Even the best player of all time, Jack Nicklaus, thought that was true.
TaylorMade Rossa Corza

Putting coaches, those gurus of the flat stick, will tell you the most common mistake
golfers at every skill level make is incorrect aiming of the putter at address.

who have formed a new entity, COBRA-PUMA GOLF but the two brands will for now at
least be continued to be developed separately.
adiPURE-fect
Adidas Golf’s slogan has always been intriguing. “We make equipment you play” can be
taken not only as a fact but a mission statement too, kind of a cocky, pugnacious
approach applied not to golf clubs or balls but to shoes, shirts and jackets.
Lessons of a lifetime
There are hundreds of golf instruction books, tapes and videos; some of doubtful value
and a few, a very few really worth the purchase price.
Pure Grips
For one company in Scottsdale, Ariz., the economic times has started what they believe is
a better way to play golf with “Pure Grips.” Named as one of the five hot new products at
last January’s PGA Merchandise Show, Pure Grips has a good thing going...

that was not white?
Answer: Wayne Levi won the 1982 Hawaiian Open with an optic orange ball.
Bridgestone successful
fitting
In the battle for golf ball market share against the segment dominating position of
Acushnet Golf, other ball makers have come up with some pretty strange ideas -
remember yellow balls?
Take it easy - Easy Bag
Like so many new products the Eazy Bag was the result of an idea of people not in the
golf business, Lisa and Tim Dylina are just avid players who came up with a solution that
solves a number of problems associated with every golf bag.
Nike VR Drivers, Fairways &
Hybrids
Nike Golf has enjoyed some success in the past year with the Victory Red (VR) irons so
for the 2010 season they are extending the line to include two drivers, a fairway wood
model and a hybrid club.
Swami 1500 Golf GPS
Golf and the technology of global positioning or GPS have had a beneficial marriage for
awhile and as in most marriages the relationship changes over time. The service giving
yardages to the green, hazards and even exact hole locations has become much less
expensive and is therefore gaining in popularity.
SeeMore mSeries DB4
Putters
SeeMore putters received a lot of press coverage back in 1999 when Payne Stewart used
one on his way to winning the U.S. Open at Pinehurst where in the final round, head to
head with Phil Mickelson, he seemed to make everything.
Adams Speedline FAST 10
Adams Golf is getting a small jump on the rest of the golf equipment makers by
announcing their newest line of drivers and fairways prior to the PGA Merchandise Show
which kicks off Jan. 28th in Orlando, Fla.
Wedge It Close
Terry Koehler had an idea about wedges. You know, those clubs used for shorter shots –
scoring shots they’re called. He thought wedges ought to be designed to aid golfers
hitting the ball close to the hole.
"Getting Back to Square"
According to vice president Bill Holowaty a guiding principle of his company is best
expressed by something the founder has said on numerous occasions. “Make the best
possible product we can and eventually the good golfers will find me.”
Return of the Raylor
In the utility club business there’s no more an iconic name than TaylorMade Golf’s
“Raylor.” As soon as it hit the scene 20 years ago it was an instant favorite and remains
so today to the extent that on two occasions recently your reporter has even seen them in
golf bags.
Penta  is for Five
TaylorMade Golf has come out with a new challenger in the upper end of the golf ball
market named the Penta TP and its really caught my attention.
Ping Hits with the G15 and
i15
Recently the new G15 and i15 lines have appeared in retail locations and golfers have
had the chance to try out the latest from Ping Golf.
Weather At A Glance
I’m the first to admit the “whiz-bang” of technology, especially as it applies to golf,
fascinates me. Laser range finders, GPS yardage devices, club head CAD, 4-piece multi-
layer balls, etc., each has an attraction and as long we’re on the topic, the new Bushnell
Golf FXi is technology neatly applied.
Sonic Golf - The Rhythm
Method
A big problem (some would say the biggest) of less-skilled golfers is their swing tempo.
They make ungainly looking, inefficient swings and may not even know they are doing
something wrong and certainly not know what to do to correct it.
SSRTT
A big part of building an efficient, repeatable golf swing is learning the proper tempo and
to measure tempo requires the measurement of swing speed so along the way swing
speed measurement becomes a yardstick for an efficient and repeatable swinging. And
by the way, in case it slipped your mind, the higher one’s swing speed the farther the ball
will go.
Air Force One
Ok, I’ll admit I was a bit of a skeptic when I first heard about the technology employed by
PowerBilt in the new Air Force One driver. After all who would ever think of much less
figure out how to manufacture a club filled with pressurized gas, then to cap it off, wind up
with a very playable driver?
SkyCaddie SG5
The big question though is now that I’ve found the distance where do I find my swing?
TMaG Burner Irons a "Hit"
When I first heard about the new Burner irons for 2009 by TaylorMade-adidas Golf, the
buzz was they hit the ball further – a lot further…like 30 yards more with a 3-iron.
The Devil's in the Details
Callaway Golf’s new Big Bertha Diablo driver is being touted as having lots of distance
with all the technical bells and whistles; however the most prominent feature is the price.
House of Carrington
Mar. 26, 2009 - Call me old fashioned but I think the clothes you wear are important,
including on the golf course. They speak volumes about you and your attitude and many of
the modern “youth-orientated” styles just don’t cut it.
Adams Speedline Driver
Mar. 15, 2009 - It’s interesting that Adams Golf touts their position as maker of the most
often used hybrid on the PGA Tour (over 30% of all hybrids in 2008) and much less about
their longer clubs.
The Eyes Have It
Mar. 5, 2009 - There’s no doubt playing golf is tough on the eyes and doctors recommend
both a hat and sunglasses for protection. But one look at the sunglasses displayed in
most golf shops can create “sticker shock.” Prices in the hundreds of dollars are not
uncommon.
Green Grips from Scuti
Mar. 2, 2009 - You’re a golfer and want to do your part in saving the planet so, in part, Scuti
Grips has an answer. The company’s new line of Eco-Friendly Grips is now on the market
made from a biodegradable foam material in contrast to the usual plastic and rubber
constituents of other grips.
YES! Switch Your Hosels
Feb. 23, 2009 - Per usual the annual PGA Merchandise Show was a venue for every club
company with putters in their lineup to introduce the newest flat sticks to the world.
The Putting Game
Feb. 16, 2009 - Indoor putting …a poor substitute for the real thing whether seriously
working on your stroke or simply as a weather induced housebound diversion.
TMaG R9 Line Up for 2009
Feb. 2, 2009 - Adjustable clubs are all the rage. TaylorMade Golf was in the forefront when
they introduced Moveable Weight Technology (MWT) in the r7 Quad five years ago and for
2009 the Carlsbad, Calif. company has raised the bar for its competition with something
named Flight Control Technology (FCT) in the new R9 line.
Exotics XCG-V
Jan. 28, 2009 - “It’s not just about reducing the weight, but how you save weight in one
area that can be used in another area to get better performance.”
Nickent Wants to Repeat
December 4, 2008 - John Hoeflich, one of the best known club designers, joined Nickent
Golf a few years ago and has recently taken on the additional responsibility of chief
operating officer. Among the first new club designs to hit the market after the changes is a
hybrid, the 5DX.
Bushnell Yarage Pro
Nov. 10, 2008 - Bushnell Outdoor Products knows the business of distance
measurement on the golf course. After all, for years they’ve made the most popular
models of laser range finders.
Dixon Earth Ball
Aug. 25, 2008 - Dixon Golf this past January launched a new ball with a distinctive
marketing approach…it’s ‘green.’ That is, it can be recycled.
SwingSetter Pro
August 18, 2008 - Generally I am dubious of so-called ‘golf training aids.’ To me they are
either too complicated, useless or both and some seemed to have been designed by
Torquemada or the Marquis de Sade.
GEL Putters
August 04, 2008 - Each year at the PGA Merchandise Show there are dozens of new
putters on display. Some are from the established makers but many are from new
companies who believe they have the next great wand to solve golfer’s putting woes.
adidas TechFit Power Band
July 27, 2008 - There are many if any golfers who wear performance enhancing clothing.
Some would say it’s because golfers are not really athletes and others might opine a
typical golfer’s physique is not the kind one would like to see in a Speedo much less
wearing compression shorts.
Hold-N-One
June 23, 2008 - There are hundreds of products for golfers introduced each year, some
great and some not so great but having been around the industry for a long time seldom
does something jump out at me as being exceptional.
adidas Tour360 LTD -
Shoes for Your Game
June 7, 2008 - I enjoy observing the marketing wars between the behemoths in the golf
business…after all it’s a gentlepersons sport (how’s that for PC!) and with few exceptions
that’s how this war is waged.
Is That Pro V1 You Found
Still Any Good? Hexcaliber
may be the answer.
May 19, 2008 - Considering a dozen new Titleist Pro V1s or other top-of-the-line balls can
put a real hole in a $50 bill, lots of golfers settle for “previously loved” golf balls either
purchased from golf shops and even Wal-Mart or retrieved from ponds, lakes, streams
and the really tall stuff along the margins of the typical course. This however presents a
problem…how does one know if that secondhand ball is still good, i.e. playable?
TMaG Tour Burner -
Performance Technology
You Shouldn't Ignore
May 1, 2008 – Yes, as a member of that journalistic category “golf media” I get he
opportunity to hit all the latest balls and clubs and yes, I have my favorites and yes, when
TaylorMade Golf introed the Burner driver last year I played with it and thought it was great.
ClubGlider a Winner
April 23, 2008 - Inventor Gary Sherrell of ClubGlider is enthusiasm personified and not
without good reason.
Bushnell Tour V2 a Birdie
Maybe Even an Eagle
April 9, 2008 - Bushnell Outdoor Products is far and away the dominant seller of laser
range finders and in response to requests from golfers for a vertically configured model
has introduced the Tour V2 with “Pinseeker” technology.
Cobra’s Latest Pro CB & MB
and UFi Irons
Mar. 30, 2008 - Geoff Ogilvy not only beat up on Tiger and the rest of the PGA Tour at the
World Golf Championship CA Championship at Doral last week but he did it playing new
irons from sponsor Cobra.
Polarity Irons from Nicklaus
Golf
Mar. 12, 2008 - Today, iron design is all about moment of inertia or MOI, a term from
physics that means the amount of resistance a club head has to twisting at impact when
the impact is not in the exact center of the club face.
Tour Edge XCG
Feb. 25, 2008 - Tour Edge Golf has an interesting promotion in progress, they guarantee
their new Exotics XCG and CB2 fairway woods are 20-yards longer than whatever you are
hitting now. A nice idea but if you’re going to boast you better have the performance to
back it up.
An ‘Esoteric’ Putting Trainer
Feb. 22, 2008 - Most training devices leave us cold. They tend to be complicated and/or
expensive and even may not do what they promise, but having said that I have been
impressed with a trainer new to this country from Europe that stands the chance of fixing
putting woes.
Magnesium - the Metal du
Jour?
Feb. 18, 2008 - It would appear there is a new battle brewing in the intensely competitive
driver market and two club makers are leading the way. Tour Edge and Nickent have
introduced #1 woods with crowns made of magnesium, a distinct departure from the
normal titanium or carbon composite construction.
MacGregor - Back to Its
Roots
There a lot of interest in the golf business about what the changes will be to MacGregor
Golf now that Greg Norman is in charge and for 2008 it appears the company is going
back to its roots as an innovative maker especially of irons with the introduction of the MT
product line.
uPro From UPlay
At the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show there were a number of examples of the latest in
technology on display but none more useful than the uPro from uPlay, LLC based in
Carlsbad, Ca.
HotRod Putter - This One
You Gotta See
There are dozens of putters introduced each year, some good, some not so good, but the
new HotRod putter shown for the first time at last week’s PGA Merchandise Show is one
you ‘gotta’ see.
Nike Sumo Drivers - Maybe
Tiger Can Find One He Likes
Making use of golf's ultimate pitchman Nike Golf, at an event MC'd by the Golf Channel's
Kelly Tilghman, introduced to the media two new drivers, neither of which Tiger Woods
says he is prepared to put into play.
TaylorMade's Red & Black
TaylorMade Golf says they are making the golf ball business a top corporate priority
second in importance only to their very successful driver business.
