SwingSetter Pro

August 18, 2008 - Generally I am dubious of so-called ‘golf training aids.’
To me they are either too complicated, useless or both and some
seemed to have been designed by Torquemada or the Marquis de Sade.
With that all in mind I took the David Leadbetter SwingSetter Pro out to the
range.

As an instructor David Leadbetter is internationally famous with many
superstar students and for us regular players there are his golf
academies around the world so when he opines, “…the SwingSetter Pro
will really take your golf game and the way you practice to a whole new
level.  It will have you playing the best golf of your life faster than would
have ever imagined,” one has the idea it’s worth a try.

The SwingSetter Pro looks like a six iron with a glandular condition but the
design has some useful features beginning with the grip which is molded
to properly position your hands on the club, a great idea since the majority
of golfers have incorrect, if not outright lousy, grips. Secondly there’s a
telescoping pointer that extends from the butt end of the grip to aid in
visualizing and achieving the proper swing plane.

Lastly and most importantly in my view is a magnetic ball around the shaft
similar to the one on the original SwingSetter which splits in half during
the swing to  teach proper timing and tempo, the secrets to a powerful
and repeatable swing. The best part and the big improvement from the
original model is the SwingSetter Pro is a real golf club and allows hitting
balls to actually experience the correct grip, swing plane, timing and
tempo.

After three range sessions I can report it works, both for highlighting
swing flaws and helping to correct them. If you’re serious about improving
your swing the SwingSetterPro is a useful tool to accomplish that goal. It’s
available online at SwingSetterPro.com for $149.95.
