Swami 1500 Golf GPS
By ED TRAVIS, Editor FrontPageGolf.com
Golf and the technology of global positioning or GPS have had a beneficial
marriage for awhile and as in most marriages the relationship changes
over time. The service giving yardages to the green, hazards and even
exact hole locations has become much less expensive and is therefore
gaining in popularity.

All systems provide distances from say the top of a bunker to the front
edge of a green by satellite signal triangulation with the course layout
provided either with plotting points (such the green edge) determined from
walking the course and or measured on photo images taken by a satellite.

At one end of the spectrum are the $200 to $300 GPS devices which in
addition to distance read outs have the ability to give yardages to a
particular part of a green (i.e., to a pin four steps over the ridge which runs
from left to right eight steps past center and six steps from the right edge).
Certainly handy to know but perhaps not vital for the average golfer
considering he or she probably has neither the accuracy nor consistency
to take advantage of such precise knowledge. And there’s even a GPS
program that runs on a smart phone, which may be intriguing in a “gee
whiz” kind of way but possibility not the most practical use for an expensive
device.

For those wanting just a yardage to the green and not spend top dollar the
Swami 1500 Golf GPS should be considered. With a new lower price of
$99, front, back and center green distance read outs, 10 course storage
and an annual subscription of just $9.99 the Swami not only won’t break
the bank but does give the critical information needed to have one of those
“birdie binges.”

The Swami is available both online, in green grass shops and off-course
retailers.
The Swami 1500 Golf GPS at $99 is a low
cost way to gain the benefits of GPS
generated yardages on the course.
