Nike SUMO
December 30, 2007 - Making use of golf's ultimate pitchman Nike Golf, at
an event MC'd by the Golf Channel's Kelly Tilghman, introduced to the
media two new drivers, neither of which Tiger Woods says he is
prepared to put into play.
The Nike SQ SUMO2 5900 has a square head designed to address the
hollow sound players objected to in previous models while maintaining
what the company promotes as the advantages of the non-traditional
shape. The SQ SUMO 5000 is a more conventional looking pear-shaped
head and at least Tiger says he has been testing this model.
Both have higher MOI values to straighten out off center hits and should
be in your favorite golf shop by Feb. 1.
Woods' told the assembled scribes his problem was he hit the SUMO
too straight and had a hard time curving the ball which for the rest of us
would seem to be just the 'problems' we would like to endure.
