Golf News & Opinion
Feb. 22, 2008 - Most training devices leave us cold. They tend to be
complicated and/or expensive and even may not do what they
promise, but having said that I have been impressed with a trainer
new to this country from Europe that stands the chance of fixing
putting woes.
The Esoteric Golf Technology system has three components to teach
the correct putting stroke and ingrain it in muscle memory. Clearly the
most useful for recreational players is called the Path Finder, a
mirrored alignment aid with magnetic pins which are knocked away if
the stroke is not square to the target line.
There is also a more involved framework, the Putting Guide, with an
adjustable putter and shaft to groove ones stroke as well as doubling
as a putter fitting machine for shaft length and lie angle. Finally
Esoteric also makes a nifty Square Triangle that’s definitely low-tech
but a great visual aid for teaching square putter impact.
Esoteric has a lofty goal. As Lars Samuelsson of Esoteric put it, “As
successful as our putting system has been in Europe, we believe that
it will be more so in the United States. Our goal is to help golfers
throughout the world become better putters and we know that our
products will help make that happen.”
The Path Finder has a suggested retail of $99, the Square Triangle is
$9 and the complete Putting Guide is $1800.
